Anne R. Simoneau came to UCI after completing her three-year fellowship in GU malignancies at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, two of those years were spent as an AFUD scholar in the laboratory looking for genetic answers for bladder cancer, the third year was spent daily in the operating room honing surgical skills in the treatment of urological malignancies. Her publications have aided comprehensive knowledge of human chromosome 9 and its connections to human bladder cancers.

Dr. Simoneau combines her highly trained surgery skills, hands-on experience in clinical medicine, along with a background in molecular laboratory techniques to pursue translational research in cancer. Since coming to UCI Dr. Simoneau has expanded her interest in cancer prevention. Dr. Simoneau collaborates with basic researchers in bladder cancer prevention to find nutrients to prevent bladder cancer. She is lead investigator in a clinical prostate prevention trial with DFMO. In addition she is the lead investigator for the UCI site for the national SELECT trial.

Dr. Simoneau completed her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, her urology residency at USC/LA County General Hospital, and a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center under the tutelage of Donald Skinner, M.D., and Peter Jones, Ph.D. She was the first USC fellow to win the prestigious American Foundation of Urologic Disease (AFUD) scholarship.
