Dr. Esequiel Rodriguez Jr. joined the Department of Urology as an assistant clinical professor in July 2006. Dr. Rodriguez has specific interests in laparoscopy, robotic surgery, and pediatric urology.
Dr. Rodriguez completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley where he graduated with Distinction in General Scholarship. He received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Rodriguez completed his urology residency at UC Irvine Medical Center under Dr. Ralph Clayman. He then completed a one year fellowship in robotic surgery under the tutelage of Dr. Thomas Ahlering. Dr. Rodriguez has published multiple manuscripts and book chapters in robotic surgery in urology, and has presented his work at national and international meetings. He received the AUA/PRAECIS Gerald P. Murphy Scholar for distinction in the study of prostate cancer in 2005. Dr. Rodriguez is a reviewer for the journals: Urology and Journal of Endourology and is an active member in the American Urological Association, American Association of Clinical Urologists, Endourological Society, and Orange County Urological Society.
In addition, Dr. Rodriguez has an appointment in the PRIME-LC program at UC Irvine and will provide much needed educational opportunities in health care to the Hispanic community. Dr. Rodriguez is fully fluent in Spanish. He will serve an important role in our program in educating our residents while providing outstanding urologic care to the population of Orange County.
