Dr. Hovey joined the faculty at UCI in July 1998. She is Director of the Urology Residency Program and Chief of Urology at the Long Beach VA Spinal Cord Injury Center. Dr. Hovey completed her formal urological training at the University of California, San Francisco. She then completed a fellowship at the University of California, Davis in neurourology, urodynamics, and reconstructive urology under the tutelage of Dr. Anthony Stone. Dr. Hovey specializes in urinary incontinence, complex voiding dysfunction, urinary disorders associated with neurologic disease, and lower urinary tract reconstruction. Her research focuses on alternative therapies for the treatment of neurogenic bladder. In addition,

Dr. Hovey is Director of the Residency Program in Urology at UCI Medical Center. In 2002, she applied for and received permission to expand the residency program from 6 to 8 residents.
