A Message
from the Residency Program Director, The question asked most frequently of me by prospective resident applicants is, "Why are your residents so happy?" The answer is quite simple. Residents are happy and their morale is high when they know they are receiving superior training. Our strengths lie first in the development of faculty dedicated to teaching and providing daily resident contact on every service. Second, this program provides not only a broad-based educational experience in general obstetrics and gynecology, but frequent rotations and progressive resident experience in maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology and primary care. Third, the linkage of UCI Medical Center with carefully selected affiliate hospitals provides our program with a unique blend and balance of patients and settings; be it clinic, private practice, or managed care. This mix permits us to provide extensive surgical, medical, and ambulatory care experience. Finally, and foremost, the strength of the program lies in the residents themselves.
