The University of
California-Irvine, Department of Family
Medicine, has an opening for a
board-certified/eligible family
physician to join the UC Irvine faculty in the
Health Sciences Clinical Series at the
assistant, associate or professor
level. The opening is for a clinician
in our ambulatory practice. We are
seeking qualified individuals with a
strong commitment to teaching including
UC Irvine School of Medicine education
courses, Department of Family Medicine
residency program education, and
PRIME-LC program teaching.
DUTIES
include: direct patient care, inpatient
service coverage, residency teaching,
and medical student teaching. Some
positions may also require obstetrical
skills. |

Requirements - American Board of Family
Medicine certified or eligible;
excellent clinical skills; interest in
clinical teaching; eligible for UC Irvine Medical Center
medical staff privileges; proven
leadership skills. Bilingual in either
Vietnamese or Spanish preferred.
Academic rank and salary are
commensurate with experience. Some UC Irvine
ambulatory sites are Federally Qualified
Health Centers. |

Program in Medical Education for the
Latino Community (PRIME-LC) |
|
The Department of Family Medicine at
the University of California, Irvine
seeks interested individuals to
assume the administrative role of
Assistant Residency Director. This
position will be at the Assistant
Professor level in the Clinical X
series, which balances teaching and
independent scholarly activity. It
will support the needs and
objectives of the Program in Medical
Education for the Latino Community
(PRIME-LC), one of the signature
programs of the UC Irvine School of
Medicine and a national model for
meeting the health care needs of the
growing Latino population.
Responsibilities will include
teaching in the program, mentoring
students and service on
administrative committees. In
addition, this faculty member will
be directed to create a new
component of PRIME-LC at the
graduate medical education level and
will hold the administrative
position of Assistant Residency
Program Director. This physician
will also have protected time for
educational and/or clinical research
and will be expected to advance in
an academic series. Interested
individuals should have scholarly
experience in the areas of health
disparities, epidemiology of
healthcare problems in Latino
communities, educational program
development and assessment, and/or
chronic disease research. |

Requirements - Requirements include
ABFM certification, eligibility for
UC Irvine Medical Center medical staff privileges,
participation in the shared
inpatient call of the residency
teaching service, and some
proficiency in Spanish. Practice and
teaching in the ambulatory setting
may also be required. |
