Fallon - Darpa Project

Our new DARPA-funded project, through a national collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Advanced Physics Lab, is designed to find new ways of attaching nerves and brain circuits to microelectrode arrays. These will be used in the new effort to create advanced prosthetic hands and arms and brain chips. Working with UCI ENT surgeon John McGuire we are testing new surgical methods compatible with forward combat hospitals to stabilize nerves, combined with growth factor and stem cell therapies, and stable bioadhesives, so that nerve-electrode contacts can last for years using novel wireless and nanotechniques.
